45 Kids Food Drive
In light of our nation’s recent economic struggles, local food banks have seen a huge increase in demand for their services. North Helpline, located in Lake City, saw over 400 families come through in one weekend and anticipate many more folks will knock on their doors in need of food and critical services. What an awesome opportunity to show the compassionate love of Jesus to our neighbors in need! Jesus has shown us sinners so much grace. He compounds that grace by enabling us to pass it on to others for His glory and our joy.
With the above in mind, MH Shoreline 4th and 5th graders will be coordinating a food drive at all Shoreline services on Sundays February 15th and 22nd. All donated food and financial contributions will be steered towards Food Lifeline and their network food banks. Food Lifeline is Washington’s largest hunger relief agency. They work to provide nutritious food to hungry people in Western Washington. Each year Food Lifeline rescues and distributes nearly 22 million pounds of food to its network of food banks, meal programs and shelters in 17 counties of Western Washington, feeding nearly 600,000 hungry people.
I encourage you to prayerfully consider giving towards this effort to meet peoples’ basic felt needs. Not out of guilt or a “have to” mentality; but out of gratitude for what Christ has done for us, and a desire to experience more of Jesus, more joy, and glorification of a Holy, merciful God-through giving to others (see: I John 4:11-12).
