The Mask of Worldly Sorrow (2 Cor 7:10, Deut 1)

Worldly Sorrow is a mask that attempts to hide a sinful heart. We wear it to persuade God or another that our bad feelings express genuine repentance, when in fact, our hearts are hiding and hardening in sin. But our hearts are never truly hidden from the God who searches every heart. God’s Word exposes the human heart behind the mask of worldly sorrow in the story of Israel’s response to the spies report on the border of Canaan.
