This morning was a wonderful time of fellowship for the men of Mars Hill Shoreline as Pastor Steve led us in a devotion from Romans 8 regarding how the Holy Spirit intercedes for us even when we don’t know what we aught to pray. Below are the prayer requests that we prayed through given to us by Pastor Tyler Powell regarding the upcoming Text & Context Conference & Acts 29 Boot Camp as well as a section on Mercy w/ some requests offered by Deacon Gary Kingsbury.

Resurgence Text & Context Conference and Acts 29 Boot Camp

• The Resurgence conference will take a hard look at the text and context both in the word of God and in the world today. Please pray that the over 1,200 attendees will be faithful to the scriptures, proclaim the gospel to a lost and broken culture, and come away with an understanding of the text of Scripture and the context in which we live.
• Prayer for the over 12 countries and 45 states represented at this conference that we can see the gospel transform their lives as well as their respective locations.
• Acts 29 Network has over 40 of its lead planters coming to this conference and helping out with church planter assessments. Pray for their families as they are spending a week away from their families, pray for the conference to speak to their hearts and context, and pray for wisdom and discernment as they assess potential church planters.
• Acts 29 Applicants – we have 23 potential church planters and their wives coming to the conference and going through assessment. Pray for their families as they are away from this week, pray for their discerning of God’s call on their life to plant a church, and pray for them and their many team members to glean great information from the conference to take back to their respective churches.
• Acts 29 Staff – Please pray for Adriel Ifland and Jeannie Thomas as they are the event coordinators for this conference and organizing the more than 150 volunteers, registration for over 1,200 people and making sure the conference goes off without a hitch.

• Conference Speakers – pray for those speaking that they are sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit and teach with excellence. Speakers include: Mark Driscoll, C.J. Mahaney, John Piper, Matt Chandler, Jim Gilmore, Jeff Vanderstelt and Darrin Patrick.
• Global Church staff – pray for Pastors Scott Thomas and Gary Shavey as the overseeing the complete conference and MC during the conference. Pray for continued strength as the lead this conference and the Global church. Pray for Pastor Tyler Powell as he works with the many applicants coming to the conference to be assessed and that the assessments on Thursday, February 28, 2008 go according to God’s will.
• Pray for all the Global Church families as there is much preparation time before the conference and time during the conference that the GC staff members are not able to be with their families.

MERCY (…a city within the city, knowing culture, loving people…)

• Pray for an outpouring of support for our May 3^rd service day and Vision House Prayer Evening.
• Pray that a core group of those with the gift of mercy and administration would rise up at our campus to champion the call to be missional and the ‘love people’. Pray that God is calling people at MHC Shoreline to love His mercy and His community, and that we can support those people in their calling.
• Pray that our Mercy Ministry activities would not feel like formal programs that we give the church but instead would be activities that are birthed out of the call of God to love our neighbors and our enemies and out of a natural response to His grace in our lives.
