Men’s Prayer 2.27.08
By Justin Schaeffer
Here are the prayer requests we shared this morning at our weekly Men’s Prayer meeting.
MH Youth
- God would give parents at the Shoreline campus wisdom as they rear their kids – Specifically, pray that parents would take their role as pastors to their children very seriously and would not simply raise moralists but kids who have a personal understanding of the gospel and a missional heart
- God would provide volunteer leaders
- Crux (junior high ministry) and Proxy (high school ministry) are built on the example of Jesus. His ministry was highly relational. Jesus spent much of his time with his disciples who learned what it meant to follow Jesus by doing exactly that. Jesus gave them access into his life. We want the same to be true of Crux and Proxy in the sense that we want teens to learn how to faithfully follow Jesus by being involved in the life of a church member and watching him/her live for Jesus. At this point, however, there are not nearly enough volunteer leaders involved for this type of time-intensive ministry to be possible for every teen already involved in Crux and Proxy.
- God would encourage and strengthen the volunteers who are involved.
- The people who are involved in the ministry are amazing. They are volunteering lots of time and energy into the ministry. However, they have too much on their shoulders based simply on the sheer ratio of leaders to teens. Please pray that God would protect them from burnout and would encourage them by allowing them to see a portion of the spiritual fruit their work is helping to bear.
- God would reveal his gospel to the teens involved and grow them into maturity.
- For those students who are involved in the ministry, we pray that God would make them followers of Jesus by showing them their sinfulness and his grace and that he would aggressively reveal himself to them so that they will grow into maturity as believers.
- God would use current students to bring more teens into the ministry.
- God would allow students currently involved to be gripped by the gospel and respond by inviting non-believers into the ministry. In other words, pray that the students would join in the mission and vision of MHC
Text & Context/ Act 29 Boot Camp
- Acts 29 Applicants – we have 23 potential church planters and their wives coming to the conference and going through assessment. Pray for their families as they are away from this week, pray for their discerning of God’s call on their life to plant a church, and pray for them and their many team members to glean great information from the conference to take back to their respective churches.
- Conference Speakers – Thank and praise God for the work He has done through these men this week. Pray that God would continue to bless their ministries and use them to build up our church. Speakers were C.J. Mahaney, John Piper, Matt Chandler, and Jim Gilmore.
